Congrats Muthazhagu, aka Priya Mani in Paruthiveeran (a local Bangalore girl who loves to eat out!) won the National Film Award for Best Female Actor....she did act very well though, with the mind bothering climax of 4 men raping her. After making her debut in Bharathiraaja's Kangalal Kaithu Sei, Priya followed it up with Adu Oru Kanakkalam, directed by another famous cinematographer-director, Balu Mahendra, which was a rubbish movie with Dhanush, the son-in-law of Rajinikanth. I had predicted this when we had watched this movie in Chennai.
Kumudam the Tamil magazine (http://www.kumudam.com) has always written so bad in articles and Q&A and jollufied on Namitha (Bramandam). She proved a point. Thanks to Bharathraaja and Amir Sulthan.
In Ananda Vikatan, except Madan (cartoonist-writer), no one wrote good about her.
As usual and expected, Lage Raho Munna Bhai won the script, music, lyrics and best picture (for wholesome entertainment) awards. Now Sanjay Dutt will be acquitted.
Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who declined the Special Jury award in 2001 following a controversy about a partisan jury, won the Best Actor award for his role in Suman Ghosh's Podokkhep.
Surprisingly the Bachchan clan did not win anything! They are very good actors.
Not but not the least, Priyanandan's Malayalam film Pulijanmam, which stars Murali, bagged the award for the Best Film. For a while Malayalam movies were not winning for the last few years, owing to the partiality of the award selectors (lots of cases against them).
Hey Hey, I am not cinema crazy here, just supporting the actors and creativity!
