“Only Science Can”
- Ravikumar, MP
A government school in Tamilnadu called a 'motivational speaker' to speak, and he talked about the superstitions of sin and virtue and pre-birth among the students, has now become a topic of discussion. We live in a time dominated by anti-scientific thinkers. In these critical times, it is very necessary to popularize and preserve the scientific approach. The participation of teachers is important in that. We can always remember the following comments by the world-renowned anthropologist Cloth Levistrass about the power of science: “Modern science is not only pushing forward along its own, narrow path, but is also widening that path and solving various problems previously left unanswered. By saying this, I might be labeled as someone who blindly believes that science will solve all problems. Well, I'm not that confident. Because I don't believe a day will come when science will be perfect and solve all problems. Always, new problems arise, while science solves problems that were believed to be insoluble a dozen years ago or a century ago. New problems arise, problems that were not thought of as problems until then. There will always be a gap between the answers science gives us and the new questions those answers raise. So I am not a "scientist" in this sense. Science will never give us all the answers. What we are trying to do is very slowly increase the number and quality of answers we provide. I think we can do that work only through science.” The message that needs to be strongly conveyed to today's students is this: "The world's problems can only be answered through science, not through spirituality."
