Gym Enthusiast : A short story

Vijay, a self-proclaimed "Gym Enthusiast," stood in front of the mirror on New Year's Eve, flexing his muscles. He had big plans for the upcoming year: lose 10 kg, get six-pack abs, and become the "Gym King" of Chennai.

With a determined glint in his eye, Vijay declared to his friends and family, "This year, I'll show you all what a real transformation looks like!"

The next morning, Vijay woke up to the aroma of his mother's famous biryani and sweets, specially prepared for the New Year's celebration. His resolve began to waver.

"Just one small plate of biryani won't hurt," he rationalized, devouring the flavorful rice and meat.

As the day progressed, Vijay found himself indulging in one sweet treat after another. "It's just a celebration, I'll get back on track tomorrow," he promised himself.

Tomorrow arrived, and Vijay's gym plans were foiled by a sudden "urgent" need to watch the latest Tamil movie. The next day, he skipped the gym again, citing a "vital" nap as the reason.

As the weeks went by, Vijay's New Year's resolutions slowly faded away, replaced by the familiar comfort of his old habits. The gym equipment gathered dust, and his six-pack abs remained a distant dream.

One evening, as Vijay sat on the couch, munching on a plate of his mother's delicious snacks, he glanced at his reflection in the mirror. The "Gym King" had transformed into the "Couch King."

Vijay chuckled, shaking his head. "Well, there's always next year... or the year after that... or maybe the year after that!"

And so, the cycle continued, with Vijay making new resolutions every year, only to abandon them for the allure of biryani, sweets, and the comfort of his couch.
