இந்தியன் விக்டரி

Possible win, as seen by KP system of astrology yesterday. Only thing is I timed that it would be all over at 3.30 Pm, nevertheless it was 4.05PM, wen the final boundary was struck by Sachin Tendulkar, getting the winning runs along with his 41st Test century.

He dedicates his effort to the team and the victims of Mumbai.

I was a nice victory, a team effort I would say!

Four on Four for Dhoni. Winner like Ricky Ponting! Thanks to Lakshmi Rai's energy tonic.

Not a word uttered about Dravid, who will get another chance at Mohali. Something special has to be done by him. His good time comes after Dec 19th. So from then onwards he gets 122 days of solid good time, to recover and retire. You can see some big innings from him. K Srikkanth please make a note of this!

Mark my words Rahul Dravid retires from International cricket on or around April 20th, 2009. This might be after a fabulous, Indian victories abroad. Pakistan tour is not there, so it would be against New Zealand.

Cricket: Indian ODI team selection

Something smelling fishy! Tendulkar not up to the mark?

M Vijay is in the team for first 3 ODI's against England Nov 14, 17 & 20. (Why dont they keep ODI matches in the weekends? ICL clash?)

The usual players.

Team: M S Dhoni (Capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh , Rohit Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh , Zaheer Khan , Munaf Patel , Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, R P Singh, Virat Kohli and M Vijay.

Surprise omission Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar.

With the must win 4th Test today, it is going to be a tough one for Australia. The can be lucky if they get the toss!

Wishing good luck to Saurav Ganguly! His last test today! I hope he starts a Leadership Academy.

V V S Laxman is playing his 100th Test Match. Excellent. Well Done! Congrats! and wishing the best for many more tests and centuries.

Bhajji is expected to get his 300th test wicket today! Congrats!

Anil Kumble retires from International Cricket

Anil Kumble retired from Cricket (tests) today. Sad scene. Surprised.

I knew the moment he got hurt, he would quit. The test scene starts late next year. AMit Mishra and Piyush Chawla are bowling well.

So who is in line next?

Ganguly plays in Nagpur and would later concentrate on IPL alone. I hope Kumble does well in that too!

Dravid, Laxman, and Tendulkar are in queue over the next 2 years!

BTW, the 3rd Test match ended in a tame draw, with final hour dynamics of Kumble!

Cricket: India pile up agony against Australia in 3rd Test at Delhi

Cricket: India pile up agony against Australia in 3rd Test at Delhi..

India finished at 296/3 in 89 overs yesterday evening, with Gambhir on 149 and Laxman on 54.

Gambhir scored his 3rd Test century.

Today morning they began well, solid, with 2 chances one by each Gambhir a slip catch life off White, Hayden being the culprit and Johnson couldn't run down to take the catch of Laxman of Lee.

Laxman scored his 13th Test century, after playing out 2 maiden overs.

India is at 393/3 in 115 overs, with Gambhir on 191 and Laxman on 104.

India should be looking to consolidate the lead, and bat 1 hour after tea too, scoring in the region of 560 to 600 and leave about 20 overs for Aussies to bat today.

Cricket: 3rd Test India and Australia

India makes a good start against Australia, in the 3rd Test match at Delhi! Spin is key. Grass of pitch, leggies have a ball always! Also lefties hit well. The gentle medium pace, hits hard.

Kumble in for Bhajji as expected. Mishra has to work hard on this low bouncy wicket.

Sehwag, out early.

Dravid chased a wild goose! Not in form.

Looks like 450 on the first innings would be the key, when Australia bat last!

Aggression never pays in Delhi pitches.

After 40 overs, it is 108/2. Very slow bowling and yet to see Cameron White is action.

India wins 2nd Test against Australia

The margin of 320 runs is India's biggest victory in Test cricket (not counting innings victories)!

That was a great and wonderful performance.

Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra were the architects in terms of bowlers.

Sehwag, Gambhir and Ganguly got India the runs that were needed.

Should not forget Dravid and Tendulkar.

Overall team effort!

And good Captains knock and innings by MS Dhoni! (gets MOM, but I feel Amit Mishra was the right choice for his match figures of 7 for 106)

These are some videos, I could find on the net! You can point out more!

Indian Cricket Team: Ganguly in against Australia (October/November 2008)

  1. Virender Sehwag
  2. Gautam Gambhir
  3. Rahul Dravid
  4. Sachin Tendulkar
  5. Sourav Ganguly
  6. VVS Laxman
  7. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk)
  8. Anil Kumble (capt)
  9. Harbhajan Singh
  10. Zaheer Khan
  11. Ishant Sharma
  12. Munaf Patel
  13. RP Singh
  14. S Badrinath
  15. Amit Mishra
The above is the 15 member squad announced by BCCI at 3 PM today. Ganguly is in. Welcome Dada again! If he wants to retire, let him leave with a bang!

The playing eleven can be taken as the first elven as shown above.... last 3 are reserves and needed for future.

S Badrinath is a no brainer choice for Srikkanth. Badri has to ensure to live up to expectations.

Suprising ommission, Murali Karthik, who is avalable after his stint with Middlesex T20 victory and in good form. I hope he comes in in the last 2 tests. Nagpur needs him.

The first test starts on October 9th at Bangalore.
The second test starts on October 17th at Mohali (you can see one more paceman in, drpping Laxman/Ganguly)
The third test starts on October 29th at Delhi. (the team to be announced on October 21st. Hopefully Dada makes the cut again!)
The final test starts on Nov 6th at Nagpur. (the batsman paradise and last time, Australia had upper hand, while Murali Kaarthik helped).

So what is the final series score to be? I bet a 2 to 1 lead for India. Excellent!

Cricket: Irani Trophy Rest of India Squad - Ganguly left out

Here is the Squad. Ganguly is shown the door again. He may not figure in test plans, along with Yuvraj Singh. Better to retire?

Rest of India squad: Anil Kumble(captain), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (vice-captain & w/k), Sachin Tendulkar, V V S Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Wasim Jaffer, Mohammad Kaif, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Parthiv Patel (w/k), R P Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ashok Dinda.

The whole of Delhi banks of Virendar Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma - all three are sure in's for the Australian tour.

So who would face the axe in the final 16 to tour Australia? Ashok Dinda, Mohd. Kaif and include Piyush Chawla along with a surprise!

Cricket: India wins against SL in 2nd ODI

In a low scoring match, India wins against SL in 2nd ODI.

Good debut by S Badrinath and super bowling by Zaheer Khan. Now the series is tied at 1-1, in a 5 match series.

Munaf Patel was fined 75% of his match fee, and reported immediately on an argument with the umpires, for an LBW which was very clear, and given not out.

3rd test, India vs SL, Aug 8th, 2008

India won the toss, Parthiv Patel in as expected for Kaarthick, stupid decision. I dont think 2 dropped catches would cost that much.

India 198-9 in 60 overs 1st day at P Saravana muthu stadium. Mendis magic. Carrom. Dhammika Prasad did his debut proud. Then came the 51 runs partnership between Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma in 20+ overs. Last wickket pair. India 249 all out. 1st inngs. 80 overs. Mendis 5 for 56.

Then Srilanka walked in to bat the 8 overs left for the day. Sharma bowled Warnapura. Superfast in that conditions. SL 14/1.

India ODI team selection, Aug 7th, 2008

Selectors of Indian Cricket team are trying to do a fair job. I would say still they are a bunch of jokers and stupid.

To retain in Sachin, they are kicking out Robin Uthappa. He will get another chance soon, with Sachin's groin in question. Sachin will open with Sehwag. Gambhir will bat in a #3 and Raina at #4. Dhoni is back, so he will be in at #5. Yuvraj at #6. I Pathan #7. Then Praveen kumar, Bhajji, Zaheer Khan (umimpressive nowadays!) and Ojha. Virat Kohli gets a surprise call. Why? Ishant Sharma is rested, and be back for Champions trophy.

Hopefully, Munaf will do justice. But why is Parthiv Patel there for ODIs? Is he the 3rd test WK? Dinesh Kaarthick shown the doors?

Squad for Sri Lanka ODIs
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha.

Squad for Champions Trophy
Same as above.
In: Ishant Sharma.
Out: Parthiv Patel, Munaf Patel

India wins second test against Srilanka in Galle

India salvages pride. Kumble's face showed a sign of relief. Well done. August 3rd, 2008.

Memorable day. being a Sunday, was able to watch the face nuances of Kumble.

A win of 170 runs shows the calibre of the team effort.

Viru was the man of the match for his splendid 201* and 50. Imagine if he had thrown away his wicket so early, as selectors want him to do?

Also Bhajji, was fine. 10 wickets in a test match is always a memory to cherish. Also I am trying to gather the 20+ wins India has had, during his tenure, with 10+ wickets in the test match. (cricmania.com)

Whats up with India? Ist innings 329 all out, Sehwag 201*

Something is wrong here. Was Sehwag expected to play well like this? The selectors have to talk to him, to play his natural game 49 runs innings, such that he can be dropped for not scoring a fifty in 6 innings in a row.
Mr Muscles are you listening?
SL 2nd Test, Galle, India, Ist innings 329 all out, Sehwag 201*, carrom gets 6 for 117. Who is carrom? Mendis. SL Army chap!
VVS falters again at 39. Cmon selectors, you need to axe him. Fast.

Zimbabwe is not going to attend the Twenty20 Worldcup

South Africa is giving what they got! England goes along. (Apartheid)

Zimbabwe is not going to attend the Twenty20 Worldcup at England.

They would get all the money they want!

They would retain their pride too!

Muralitharan bigger than Bedi

Masters of spin and woes, could have been the apt title for the article Mukul Kesavan wrote.

Read here on Cricinfo More than Muralitharan; bigger than Bedi

My comment is also there....

I think that Murali is correct when he says he is within the legal limits of chucking as per ICC rules. Bedi is also correct when he says according to him he consider's Murali's action similar to chucking.

There is no contradiction here as I will explain with an example. A person has parked his car regularly for last 10 years at acertain place. Today Police put up a "No Parking " board. What was legal until yesterday will now be illegal. Similarly, ICC by declaring a limit on arm bending has made Murali's action legal. Let's however allow Bedi to retain his stance based on human eye instead of the lab tests. I think Murali should not have sought legal action but rather ignored the comment of Bedi. Similarly no body has commented on Arjuna Ranatuga's response which is more defamatory than Bedi's statement.

How I chose the correct Indian World Cup 07 Squad?

In a laborious process I had predicted earlier (Feb 4th 2007morning), using the Prashna process of KP Astrology, over a period of 2 hours and 50 minutes from 7.20AM, picking the divine number for each player (restricted to 10 chances out of 30), for the 8 slots, with 4 in a trouble (fitness and fanfare) and 4 to be really picked... out of the remaining 18. I did not restrict it to my favourites of 22 based on intelligent guess, while other 8 were also still in contention for the remaining 3 places.

This was the list I had in the mind when I started the prophecy.

I Sure in (8)

Dravid
Ganguly
Tendulkar
Kumble
Harbhajan
Dhoni
Zaheer Khan
Ajit Agarkar

II Fitness and Fanfare (4)

Sehwag
Yuvraj
Pathan
Munaf Patel

III Rest in the lot... (3)

Dinesh Kaarthick
Sreesanth
Robin Uthappa

IV Other favourites (6)

Raina
RP Singh
Ramesh Powar
Gautham Gambhir
Kaif
VVS Laxman

In the second lot (II), I wanted to see whether they would make it. The odds (scores) were very good for them, so they are in.

Now for the III lot, who were in the team for the Srilankan ODIs..... I chose the numbers, and looked at whether they would make it. I also looked at the 10th house, with 12th, to make sure the interests are

looked in correctly. Marked the scores, based on the transits till April 29th 2007 midnight.

I also looked the IV lot, other favourites....

Raina and RP Singh also had similar scores better than the rest (hence they are named backups, and would travel to West Indies and be readily available as unofficial candidates for India - all expenses paid by BCCI), but Ramesh Powar had the next lowest (he might be called in for cover after March 23rd, when his points are more than Harbhajan - a finger injury?), and along with Kaif and Laxman gettign even lower marks compared to the earlier selected people.

Now what about the others in the probables list.? Nothing to mention, worthwhile, and only "Inshant Sharma" had got points worth mentioning and like Ramesh Powar, his points go higher but only on April 28th only.(final day). I also feel other than RP Singh, he might be called in a cover on April 21st for the Semi Final (April 25) and Final (April 28).

A note, as I am in Chennai - I wanted to know about the chances of S Badrinath, and his score was very low, but looks like he would represent India in some form during Nov 2007 to Feb 2008 and beyond.
